Tactility & AI: Designing with a Human Touch

AI is changing what designers do — but not what design is for. As AI takes on more of the heavy lifting, we're being pushed back to the essence of the craft: the philosophical, the emotional and the deeply human.

In this talk, we look at design as a translator between the physical and the digital, and ask what gets lost when we stop designing with our hands. Drawing on a lineage that stretches back to the Arts and Crafts movement of the 1860s, we explore why the questions designers have always asked still matter, and why no technology, however advanced, can answer them on our behalf.
